Vampire Tavern: The Dream
Why?
Vampire Tavern was started almost six years ago, In yahoo romance it has undergone many changes. When it first started it was a wild and the imagination ran free. We had Vampires who were untamed, scary, sexy, flamboyant . With long flowing dresses, with breasts pushed way on high. We had Vampires wearing purple velvet smoking coats.
It was about the wonderment and excitement of traveling to some far off place where Vampires, Elves, Beasts and other creatures. Filled the halls, of the Mance. At the start a few lone souls moved in the flow... but a few were very short lived.
We grew and grew, there were many who had talent and were able to express it here. Some needed to leave the world of wives, husbands, children, work and school, all behind.... and enter a place where they could be anything or anyone.
Then the darkness came, not only did we attract the real life refugees, but the young, the slightly unbalanced. They didn't want to be something special or a part of the game. They wanted to be gods, killers, destroyers of anything they couldn't be.
Lost and confused we decided that rules need to be in place....... Keeping only the rule that every being was able to die ,this was based loosely on White Wolf. The problem being that VTM was not designed to be mixed with all the other books. Nor was it intended to be played online.
We still grew, mixed within the VTM and the ways of old. Then "D" day happened.... Yahoo changed format, leaving ICHAT to a very unstable java script that bounced and left us all dismayed.
So we ventured out leaving Yahoo to enter RC. We lost 60 percent of our players. Many of the ones that came along were the ones that were very Book centered. Soon what had been a wonderful escape became more about rules and less about Role Playing and imagination. Soon many of the originals faded away. They moved on to other things and the game fell....
The Idea of Vampire Tavern is to have the rules be relaxed enough to draw and keep RP'ers, yet having enough structure to keep the God like creatures under control. It will also be designed so that we can grow, and enjoy it in an adult format. Please read the rules so that you understand that this is designed so that a new character will not attempt to kill someone who has spent years developing and nurturing their character.
