Gender:

Type of Character: Human/ Immortal
Rolasia
is mortal male who's body has been magically enhanced using tattoos and
other various arcane magics. His entire body, with the exception of
the parts of his face that are readily visible are covered in
tattoos. As a result of this, he wears longs sleeved shirts that are
buttoned to the neck or turtleneck shirts. He also wears his sandy
hair long to conceal the tattoos on the back of his head, behind his ears
and down the back of his neck. Very rarely will he show anyone his
tattoos, but if one where to pay particular attention to his hands there
is a visible tattoo on the palm of each.
Rolasia takes great pride in the stories he tells. He is also
accomplished on most musical instruments. He is able to replay a
song accurately from memory, regardless of when he heard it (though his
memory is prone to fail at any other time). He also is able to
listen to a song and play along with it flawlessly, using instantaneous
echo.
A battered leather satchel is never far from his side. Though the
appearance of the container is nothing remarkable, Rolasia is never
without it. He keeps all of his musical instruments, any books he is
reading, the books he is writing, several changes of clothes and the means
to gather ink. It also possesses various odds and ends he has picked
up on his travels around the world. The limitations of the satchel
are merely what can fit through the mouth of it, since the weight and size
never changes. The origins of the satchel are a mystery and Rolasia
himself cannot tell where it came. From his earliest memories,
somewhere around age 10 when he was found, he has always had it.
History:
Rolasia is the adopted son of Redheaded Vampress Gareti. As she
tended bar at the Vampire Tavern in the old world, she noticed a young
mortal boy sneaking from beneath the tables and chairs, stealing food and
picking pockets. She took pity on the child, but could not get him
to come near her, so she started leaving food within his reach, slowly
building up a trust in the skinny, dirty child. One day Rol swiped
food from the wrong plate, the owner of the plate not knowing who the boy
was or that the denizens of the tavern had taken to leaving their mostly
finished plates within his reach. His wrist was seized and the
angered man drew a dagger to kill the boy. Several came to the aid
of the child, including Reddie (as her friends and family called her) who
chastised the man for trying to harm a child. The man grew angry and
threatened Reddie with the blade. Rolasia watched this and couldn't
understand why she had come to his aid. But he was smart enough to
realize that it was she who had been leaving food for him, and it was she
who came to his aid, and it was she who was being threatened for that aid.
Rol raced out from under the table and leaped at the man, biting, scathing
and yelling incomprehensively. He caused no real damage to the man,
and was quickly pulled off and the situation diffused. Reddie took
the child and cleaned him up, befriending him. Eventually the child
grew to love the woman and she to love him. She adopted him and
called him her own.
Life moves forward as it has a tendency to do and as his height and years
grew, so did his restlessness to see something other than the land he was
in. Coming of age, he packed up his satchel and headed out in to the
world. Traveling mostly on foot, and only taking other means when
absolutely necessary, he has traversed the world several times. He
is fluent in most of the languages of both the mortal and other than
mortal races, though it is quite rare when he will admit that.
As his age grew, so did his driving need to not die. His fear of
death was to the point where even embracement by a kindred, such as his
beloved mother, was not something he could even consider enduring.
Eventually, the means to defeat his own mortality where found.
Abilities
and Powers:
The Story of the Rose That Bloomed At Night:
By recalling this tale and touching the tattoo of a rose that is on his
right wrist Rolasia is able to create a rose of any color. The rose
will fade back to oblivion on the second sunrise after it was created.
(auto)
The Parable of the Man Who Turned Water to Wine:
Simply put this allows him to turn water in to alcohol. Through the
years he has learned that there is more than just wine to quench the
palate of men, and has practiced until other alcoholic drinks could be
made. (auto)
The Tale of the Blind Man Who Saw a Rainbow:
Rol has a tattoo of an eye on his left palm that is used to key this
power. If used on himself, he can see the aura of those around him.
The aura tells of the origins (vampire, mortal, dragon, etc), sex and
roughly how old the bearer of the aura is (generally to the nearest 100
years). (auto, unless they are blocked then you must out roll the target
by 10)
If Rol recalls the Tale and places his left hand over the eyes of someone
else, he creates an illusion. The power of the illusion is such that it
takes nothing but the knowledge that it is an illusion to dispel it.
After all, a bard cannot afford to lose his audience for longer than the
tale he tells.
The Story of the Reed That Bent in the Hurricane:
Their is a story about an oak and a reed in a hurricane. The oak
gets blown over and uprooted but the reed does not, because the reed bent
with the wind and the oak tried to stand against it. Using the knowledge
of the reed Rol can bend and sway with the wind allowing a blow coming at
him to be deflected reducing his injury to 20% of what it could have done
damage wise. Unless Rol is actively engaged in an offensive
movement, this is naturally occurring, through the long years of practice.
Some of his tattoos are simply to keep him alive. Rol is mortal and
older than most of the creatures on the island. The Fable of the Man
Who Would Not Die (The Story of Dorian Gray) has caused Rol to tattoo
himself on his back between the shoulder blades. The tattoo ages
rather than Rol, however it only keeps his outward appearance youthful.
So his blood continued to age, and a tattoo of a heart on his chest is
what pumps it. Tattoos behind each ear allow Rol to hear what is
going on, and tattoos on the inside of his eyelids allow him vision (since
hearing and sight are both lost with age). His hearing and eyesight,
due to their magical nature are better than those of a normal mortal.
On his neck, near his jugular, but low enough that a high necked shirt
conceals it, is a tattooed warning from a vampiric prince that says that
Rol is not safe to feed from. As old as Rol is and the fact that the
magic did not stop his aging entirely his blood was very old before he
came up with a magical means to slow it. It has become vile and as
close to dead blood as a mortal can have and still live. The blood
is poisonous to any who drink it, though older vampires will be less
affected by it. Younger ones might even die depending on how much
they consumed.
