 Mental characteristics: Maya Sugarbaker or just Maya is what you would call an ingénue or an innocent.  She is skittish around people at times, especially men, because of her history. She is well read and book smart but when it comes to socialization she is at a loss. She tries hard but feeds off the emotions of others at times, so if they are angry or upset, it upsets her almost to the point of being afraid.

 Character History: She was born and raised in a military lab, allowed to live only for experimentation purposes. She and her twin sister, Mia, were close but Maya was the more stubborn one of the two and started to hate the people who tested on them and hurt them to see their reactions. She started to refuse to “perform” for them and was punished severely for her stubbornness. Her eyes are always now those of the panther she shifts to because they kept her in panther form for extended periods of time and she can no longer appear fully human because of her eyes. There was a horrible explosion at the lab when she had recently turned 18 and the security system was knocked out. Her mother and twin sister Mia were killed in the explosion; so Maya and her father tried to get out to safety, however they were captured. Before her father was killed she learned of a portal that would lead her to safety. Running as she had truly never run before, she made it to the portal and came out to find herself in a stinky old garage. Scared still, she ran around the island avoiding people for a few days after she found the caves and has slowly been coming out to meet people from time to time.

Update to history: Maya took a while to come out and meet people but since the time she did she has met some interesting people on the island. She has made a few good friends and some unique people she considers acquaintances.

She rescued a cub named Bryony and adopted her and shortly there after adopted another cub named Nicoletta. The two girls, she and Riley moved into the treehouse in the gardens. A year later, she gave birth to 6 babies; Jacob, Callie, Destiny, Riley Jr, and Ryan. Riley left on a hunting trip many years back and hasn’t been seen since. Maya and the kids remain living in the treehouse for now.

Maya is highly talented in the area of creating weapons and fetishes. She was taught by her father while in the lab and then she went on to study herself while there and also since she has escaped to the island. She has a natural gift for creating such works of art and she takes great pride in it.

 

Gifts and abilities: (spells under review)

 Fetishes:

 Sorcerer’s Blade: She is able to enchant a weapon such that it is damaging to supernatural beings. The weapons created inflict terrible wounds on her foes. To do such an enchantment she has to spend an hour (RP time) and meditate and chant, until the spirits come forth to allow her to do so. This enchantment lasts for one night only. The blade can be reused but each time takes a new hour and a new night to enchant it again. It can be used in blades, darts, arrows and even bullets. Bullets cannot be reused obviously.

 Night eyes: This fetish is normally created using a pair of face-fitting sunglasses or protective goggles. She takes the goggles and smokes them completely black by the soot released from the burning of a wolf cub skeleton and then bound with an Owl spirit. This process takes 2 hours (rp time) to burn the skeleton and to bind the owl spirit.

 Once the process is over it enables the wearer of the goggles to track Were movement via residual tracers from their ambient Gnosis signatures through virtually any terrain, untamed or urban, and even water. It does not allow the wearer to track the Were who is camouflaged by supernatural means.

 Create Fetish Tattoos: This is an ability that many do not have anymore and some have forgotten existed. It allows her to tattoo flesh with specially prepared ink that is suitable to serve as housing for a spirit. To create the ink it takes one hour (RP time) of meditation and asking for the spirit’s blessing. The tattoo itself, takes as long as it takes, depending on the tattoo.

Sense the magic: Because she created fetishes, she has learned how to sense magic around her as well. Not only when it is cast around her, but when it is implanted into an object as well. She can learn the general strength of the magic and what type of creature created it, but nothing after that.

Fetish Doll: She may harm a victim from afar by mutilating a doll she has constructed in the victim’s image. She must have a part or article from the being against whom she plans to employ this gift. She must then construct a mannequin in the shape of the victim. (This should take at least a week rl time to do so) There is several steps to this gift. First obtain the part or article from the being (must be done in rp). Then there is the building of the mannequin, which also must be performed in rp. She will then have to concentrate and meditate for 4 hours to call to this gift. Once that is done, she then has to roll to activate the gift. Once activated, the gift is fully intact but it cannot be used for final death.

 

 

Healing:

Banish Illness: With a purr and a lick, she can heal small cuts up to more difficult illnesses. Depending on the severity of the wound/illness she is healing; the time frame and success rate varies. This only works on others, and cannot be used to heal herself.

For small cuts and wounds, simply calling the ability and activating will be enough for her to give kitten licks and a soft purr and the wound would be healed. For more serious wounds and/or illnesses, she would have to spend more time, which takes away from her energy as well.

Heal Thy Wounds: This ability works only on the tiger herself. It takes more time to heal her own wounds and she would need to concentrate solely on this ability and be alone to heal the wounds. This works for small wounds and anything non aggravated.

Mamas Touch: With this ability she is able to lay her hands onto others and heal wounds of all kinds. She cannot heal herself with this gift. When she uses this ability, she takes on some of the pain from the wound she is healing and it takes energy away from her. She is unable to heal the pain to herself by the healing as well. This is used more for broken bones than wounds, as she would use banish illness for smaller wounds and flesh wounds.

Cat Gifts:

Catlike Balance: She is able to walk across any ledge, rope, etc., no matter how thin or slippery. It is an automatic gift and does not need to be rolled out.

 Cry of the kitten: This is a gift one is taught at a young age. She can make a sound so pitiful that anyone around her, even attackers, will stop what they are doing and come and try to comfort and soothe her. It will last until she drops the gift; or if an attacker is coming to comfort her they will not come out of the compulsion unless they are attacked at that time.

Mine o mine: This ability lets her mark territories or people as her own. It does not hurt the person she has marked of course. Any vampire, shifter, or mage who comes across the land, building, person or whatever was marked; they will know it is a signal to keep away or hands off. Once someone comes up to a building or property by the time they are within 10 feet of it they will start to feel uneasy; as if they were trespassing or stealing somebody’s treasures. It can be removed by the cat herself or if detected by legitimate magical means, the one detecting is able to remove it if they know how and have the ability to do so.

 

Houdini’s escape: She is able to dislocate her limbs and get through tiny openings in attempt to escape capture or to get into a tight small area that she would not be able to normally. The easier the escape the less high of a roll it takes. (Examples: getting out of handcuffs requires say a roll of 35. Getting through a small airshaft or air duct would take a roll of 50.

Library of the world: This simple but yet useful gift allows her to read any text that is placed before her. She does not learn the new language; she is simply able to look at the text before her and her mind translates it automatically so she can understand what is written. The older and more obscure the language, the higher of a roll it would require. She can only use this for an hour at a time, and must take a 2 hour break between sessions to rest her eyes.

Gift of the fae: With this ability she can become 3 times her normal size and go down as small as a tiny kitten. When she is in kitten form, she retains her normal Strength and abilities, but can pass as a cute kitten or house cat. While in the larger size, she can gain additional strength (example add 10 to the total dice roll).

Side walking: She no longer needs a reflective surface to walk into the Umbra when she uses this gift. It is a gift that she was trained on by her parents time after time when she was younger. She could not do it then because of her age, but after she escaped to the island, she worked on it so she would never be caught again. She can simply think of the Umbra and step into it.

 Combat:

Kitten’s claws: By concentrating on her hands when in homid form she is able to make her hands and fingernails turn into claws that normally require a different form to be taken. They can be kept in this form for however long she wants to keep them out, however they are painful and are very awkward to use.

Kali’s mighty form: As a last resort in a fighting situation, the panther is able to call forth unto the mighty Kali and transform herself into a total fighting machine.

She grows to 12 feet in height with 6 arms and wields flaming weapons. She will in crinos form once this ability is fully activate.

 The reason this is a last resort is because of all the side effects from calling forth such a might gift. She is not able to communicate with anyone nor does she have the ability to reason or plan an attack. All she knows is to kill. Once she drops this gift, only after the one around her she was fighting is dead, she drops down to her panther form and sleeps for 4 hours, unable to be awakened. This leaves her vulnerable to attacks or anything else during that time.

Silver Fang: This ability allows her to change her claws and fangs into silver, making her a force to be reckoned with in the battle field against other shifters who are affected by silver. It can be a dangerous thing for the panther herself, because she has to make sure it doesn’t make her frenzy if she uses it to long. She also must realize that her concentration is used mostly on this ability so she loses some of it for the battle she is in.

Razzle Dazzle: This ability allows her to show her intended victim the true beauty and glory of Gaia. So long as the target is not attacked, it will stand mutely in awe for the remainder of the scene. This Gift may only be attempted once per target per scene.
