Lucius Devilal
BackGround Name: Lucius
Devilal Gender:
Male Type of
Character: Vampire Physical
Description: Lucius stands a
little over six feet tall, and has shoulder length jet black hair.
Being of Irish descent, he has a hardy look about him, yet his face
gives away nothing of the hardships he has suffered over the years.
His brown eyes hide a sadness within him that is known to almost
none, save his family, and he carries himself with an air of dignity,
though to those who do not know him, it may seem like vanity.
Physique wise, he is not amazingly built by any standards, though
he does have a natural muscular body, due to the jobs he did during his
life, which mostly involved hard physical labour.
He is by no means a snappy dresser, preferring earthy colours to
any of the more garish colours now available, and usually dresses in
rustic brown pants, and a loose fitting green shirt. History: Born
in 1849 in Cork, Ireland, Lucius, or Luc as he prefers to be called, is
the son of a simple farmer and his wife.
He had a mostly uneventful childhood, usually helping his parents
out around their farm, which they rented from a wealthy English Land
Owner. In exchange for the land, they provided him with a monthly
rent, as well as a third of all their produce.
At the age of 16, Luc decided that the farming life, under the
thumb of the English was not for him, and saving for many months, he
finally had gathered enough money to sail to the Americas, where he
believed he would find his fortune. Unfortunately,
during the crossing, a fierce storm blew up and the ship battered about on
the open sea. The last he
remembers is trying to get to safety below deck, when suddenly a large
wave slapped the side of the ship and catapulted him overboard, pitching
him into the sea. Awakening,
he found himself washed up on the beach of the Island which he now calls
home, where a crowd had gathered to witness the arrival of this stranger.
It was here that he also met two of his closest friends, Jacinda
Fires, and Jordan Schur, who took him with them to the Fires Tavern, where
his wounds were healed (and to his surprise, rather quicker than he would
have imagined). Once rested,
he questioned Jacinda about when he would be able to leave, only to be
informed that it would be quite impossible for him to do so.
Angered by his so-called captivity, he defiantly set about building
a boat on the beach where he had washed up only weeks before.
Setting out to sea in it, he made it about 200 feet away from the
island, before, by some work of magic and to his surprise, he ended up
back on the very beach from which he had left only moments before.
Questioning Jacinda about this work of devilry, he finally learned
the truth about the island and its inhabitants - Vampires, Werewolves,
Mages, Demons...all living together in this unholy paradise. Shortly
after this event, he was talking with Jacinda in the Tavern, where he had
taken refuge from the Islands inhabitants. (Truthfully, he was quite
afraid of them at this point, being a mere mortal himself), when a lone
figure entered, and exchanged heated words with Jacinda.
His name he learned, was Adair Devilal, with whom the Fires Family
had something of a feud. A
few nights later, he was leaving the tavern when he was set upon by an
unusually strong man. "Quiet
boy, lest I take your tongue", he hissed, as he wrapped an arm around
his neck and dragged him off into the night.
Awakening hours later, Luc felt different somehow, and questioning
his captor - he made a startling discovery.
"I have made you the same as they...you are one of their kind
now" Reeling
from this revelation, he didn't even notice as Adair, the bestower of his
dark gift, disappeared into the darkness, abandoning him to his fate. For
the next few years, he placed himself under the tutelage of Jacinda, to
learn all he could about their kind, though through it all he seethed with
anger, and resentment at the one who had done this to him, vowing to
pursue him to the ends of the earth if needs be, and end his miserable
unlife. It was soon after
this then, that his dreams turned to nightmares, filled with images of his
sire, revelling in his twisted, sadistic ways, and he was contacted by a
demon named Samael. "Your
sire has seen fit to make a pact with the denizens of Hell..." -
These were the words that echoed in his ears as Samael departed.
Not before giving him a gift of sorts first though... "This
blade was forged in the fiery pits of hell Lucius. Devils Bane is its name, and it may serve you well when the
time comes" The
blade in question was a tempered steel sword, which, unlike most steel,
did not shine, instead having a darkness about it that he could not
comprehend. Various markings
were inscribed along the length of the blade, as well as its hilt, though
to this day, he has no knowledge of what they mean. For
many months, he stalked Adair, following him into the very pits of hell
itself, where the pair were fated to do battle. "You
dare to think you can beat me boy?" mocked Adair, as their blades
clashed repeatedly. The
battle raged for many hours, with neither seeming able to best the other. As the anger inside Lucius built to a crescendo, he began to
feel reinvigorated, as the sword, given to him by Samael, took on a life
of its own, the runic markings on it glowing brightly as he fought.
It was almost as if the sword were feeding off his hatred and using
it to re-energise him. Eventually, Adairs sword clattered to the ground as he was
impaled through the chest. Then,
with a loud cry, Lucius removed the sword, and swung it through the air,
cleaving off the head of his mortal enemy with one fell swoop, as he stood
there, stunned by his own defeat. Recently,
Luc has returned home to the Isle, and has become sire to his own progeny,
Marcia, a woman with whom he was very much taken before he departed to
face his sire. Weapons/Items Devils
