Yfandes is a six year old female Pearl Dragon, like Vanyel she too has been forced to stay in her humanoid form. She is shorter then Vanyel, standing at 4’3 and weighing roughly at 50 lbs, like her brother she too is under nourished, and also bares many scars from beatings received by their surrogate father.

Dragon Forms

Both children are Pearl Dragons, when they shift Vanyel stands approximately 4 feet off the ground, Yfandes stands approximately 3 feet off the ground, they have translucent pearl scales, short stubby legs with small sharp talons on their feet, their snouts are short and stout and they have white spikes that run down the length of their back and tail. They have two short stubby horns that are positioned above their eyes.

History:

Lightening streaked across the sky as a shadow carefully approached the nest. He had been waiting undetected for days but his patience had finally paid off, the female finally left the egg unattended to feed. He waited as her shadow disappeared above the gray clouds before he moved in. Gervase had done this only once before, two years prior but he knew in order for his plan to work he would need two. He slowly moved into the cave, his senses heighten incase the female returned too soon. Coming upon the nest his lips broke out into a greedy grin, there sat the pearl colored egg he had been searching for. Reaching in, he cradled the precious egg to his chest; closing his eyes he scanned the inside of the egg.

“Perfect, a female, oh yes my dear, you will do me well,” he told the little hatchling inside. Gervase had taken precautions before coming near to the nest, masking his scent to match the surroundings, he had not portalled to the nest area either, he knew the Dragoness would feel the magic but now that he had his prize he was not going to waste anymore time. Spinning the spell that would take him back to his home, he stepped through the portal, leaving behind a heartbreak for the Pearl Dragoness’ return.

“Vanyel!” the old man bellowed as he marched down the hall of his keep. “Vanyel!” Damn that boy, how many whipping was he going to receive before he got it through his thick skull to come running when he was called? The old man scowled as he turned the corner only to see the blonde headed boy with eyes as dark as the night sky scramble down the hallway. “Yes masser?” the two year old boy said in huffs of breath. The old man pulled his hand back causing Vanyel to cower back, “I’m sowwy masser, I was on de odder side of da keep, I run as fast as I coold.” Vanyel closed his eyes waiting for the blow but for some reason it didn’t come, slowly he opened his eyes only to find the piercing blue eyes staring down at him and a wicked grin to accompany them. “Come here Vanyel, I have someone for you to meet, say hello to you new baby sister Yfandes.” Gervase held out his arms with the large Pearl egg cradled gently within. Vanyel looked at the egg curiously, “It’s an egg.” Vanyel replied as he tilted his head to the side, “Stupid child, so were you at one time.” He pulled the egg closer to his chest and dealt the blow he had threatened the boy with earlier causing him to tumble into the wall.

Six years had passed since that day; Gervase became more abusive towards the children he had stolen. Vanyel and Yfandes did what they could to survive while in the Dark Mage’s custody, which usually meant that Vanyel when he could took Yfandes’ punishments. At the age of eight Vanyel had more scars across his body then a warrior at the age of 30. He hated Gervase and wished the old man would die, he had sworn to himself and his sister that one day he would kill the old man on the night that he had struck her across the face because his meal had been served luke warm. He held his sister in their room, if that is what you wanted to call the cold stone walled cubicle they were force to sleep in. They didn’t even have beds, just straw that was usually moldy and mice infested.

The children were well aware of what they were, Gervase had told them that they were of a unique breed of dragons, Pearl Dragons and that their mother had abandon them. He told them that they should be grateful that he saved them from being trampled or eaten by predators. Though Vanyel and Yfandes when born were in their dragon forms by the age of two they were forced to assume a humanoid form. Though Vanyel was now eight he was not allowed to transform into his natural form and the mage had casted a spell on both children that prevented them from doing so and were told when Gervase felt it was time then he would begin their training and fulfill the destiny he had set forth for them. Vanyel hated their mother almost as much as he hated Gervase, how could she abandon them both? They had no idea that they did not come from the same female and were stolen from their nests; all they knew is what Gervase allowed them to know.

One warm summer day, the two had stolen away from the keep while Gervase was out. Vanyel had been teasing his little sister and had made her so upset that she ran into the forest, knowing that if they were not back before Gervase returned Vanyel ran after her. “Yfandie, come on, we got to get back!” he yelled after her as he tore through the underbrush. He had almost ran over her when he jumped through some low lying bushes, “Damn Yfandie, you know…” he stopped and tilted his head at her, she was standing there staring wide eyed, turning his gaze to what had caught his sister’s attention his own eyes widened. In front of them was a shiny light, “its so pruddy,” Yfandes whispered to her brother and took a few steps towards it. Vanyel reached out and grabbed his sister’s arm, “Yfandie, don’t.” She only shook her head and turned her gray eyes towards him, “I wanna check it out,” she grabbed his hand and began to tug him along, “Yfandie we shouldn’t, Gervase will get mad,” he pleaded with her, but the moment Yfandes reached out and touched the shiny surface the light surrounded them, Vanyel’s head swarmed as they were pulled through. When it was all over the two were no longer in the forest outside of Gervase’s keep, Vanyel didn’t know where they were, nothing looked familiar. “Yfandie, what did you do?” he scolded her as his huge dark eyes glanced around and then there was a scent, a sweet smelling scent, it caused his stomach to growl as he looked in the direction it was coming from. He looked up at the storefront sign but he didn’t know how to read but what ever it was, something inside pulled at his stomach, “Come on,” he told his sister as he reached up and pulled on a blonde pigtail. It had been days since Gervase had allowed them to eat. Cautiously he pushed open the door to the store and glanced back at his sister who was still rubbing her head and scowling at him. “Oh geez Yfandie come on, I’m hungry and we need to hide before Gervase comes lookin’ fer us. Or you can stay out here so some monster can steal you and eat you,” he gave her a wicked grin before stepping through the front doors of the Blood n Doughnuts.
